Stay Healthy with Bone Broth

What is it? Bone broth is a mineral-rich infusion made by boiling the bones of healthy animals. The broth is a powerful health tonic that many cultures around the world still consume regularly as a cheap and highly nutrient-dense medicinal food. What’s it good for? Building connective tissues, joints and ligaments, general brain health, bone health, building immunity, digestion, allergy symptoms, strengthening hair, skin and nails, and reducing cellulite. It is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, especially collagen, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and amino acids proline and glycine. How do you make it? We recommend using bones from cooked chicken or beef, however it can be made from bison, lamb, poultry, or fish. Fresh, organic vegetables and spices can be added for taste. Start with two pounds of bones per gallon of water. Place the bones, water and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a large stock pot and let them sit for 20-30 minutes before turning on the heat so that the vinegar can begin to break things down. Bring the broth to a boil, reduce to low and simmer for 6-12 hours. Strain and refrigerate (5 days) or freeze (6 months).
