DEATH MIDWIFE CERTIFICATION

Good Medicine Bozeman is sponsoring an intensive-style Death Midwife Certification Training. This workshop is intended to focus and sharpen our natural caretaking skills. It is designed to give confidence, credibility, and certification to those whose goal is to build community and inspire others as we embrace the most sacred threshold in the circle of life; our final passage. Facilitating a dignified, peaceful, and meaningful death for people we love can be a sacred experience for those left behind.

The work of a Death Midwife complements the work of caretakers such as nurses, clergy, or funeral directors. They work alongside other professionals & provide non-medically oriented skills that build community and address the dying’s emotional, spiritual, and practical needs. This work can be done in any setting, whether in a hospital,  nursing facility, or a home. Anyone seeking to utilize these skills professionally or wanting to deepen their relationship with the natural cycle of life is encouraged to attend.

Training Includes:

  • The services/skills a Death Midwife brings to those in their care
  • Eco-friendly options for body disposition
  • How to create sacred space for transition before & after death
  • How to determine if a family is a good fit for a home funeral
  • Home Funeral Workshop on the final Monday of the training
  • How to normalize & lead effective conversations around death & end of life care
  • How to identify, network, & partner with a variety of interdisciplinary professions
  • The complexities of grief & how to compassionately navigate family dynamics  that occur as a loved one dies
  • Essential documents & legal paperwork required at the end of life – how to  research state laws & build bridges with others presently working in the funeral  industry
